Who’d have thought that American youth spending countless hours on the Xbox would really be in training for the U.S. Navy? But it’s true.
The U.S. Navy will be using Microsoft Xbox 360 joysticks to operate and maneuver periscopes on their next generation submarines. In fact, the USS Colorado, which will be commissioned by November of this year, will be the first Virginia-class sub to be equipped with the Xbox controller. Other subs will get become Xbox-equipped with their next upgrade.
And why not? The older system costs $38,000 and up, whereas the Xbox joystick will set the Navy back about 30 bucks. Learn more here.
