Jointly funded by the U.S. military and Google, the Bayou program developed by Rice University computer scientists is a deep-learning tool that will compile Java code with just a few keyword inputs.

The Bayou program read the source code for some 1,500 Android apps, or about 100 million lines of Java. Once that code was incorporated in Bayou’s neural net, the AI learned both how the code worked and the contextual intent of the original code writers.

We will take a deeper look into the Bayou program for you next week, but until then, click here for more about this fascinating breakthrough.
